Our MD Becomes Mentor for Innovation Martlesham

Innovation Martlesham is an established high-tech cluster of ICT companies located at Adastral Park, BT’s Innovation and Design campus at Martlesham Heath, Suffolk.

They adopt a number of mentors to assist the companies within the incubator, mentors are domain experts who provide free advice to companies in the Innovation Martlesham Incubator

Steve was asked to be a mentor as he has provided advice sessions for directors of incubator companies this year and also heads up Junari Ltd whose CRM+ product (register for info at www.junaricrmplus.com) is aimed at a sweet spot of companies between 5 and 100 users and therefore he has a good understanding of how to create positive relationships with companies from micros, through SME’s to corporates where he has had a lot of experience in the past.

Steve explained

” It is a pleasure to be asked to do this, having been part of or led many pre-sales engagements over the last twenty years, it is nice to be asked to share some of this knowledge with people who are just considering how they approach similar engagements.”

Since opening for business at Adastral Park, Disect has reported continuing growth in software sales. Dr David Heatley, Technical Director, commented:

“The advice and support from the team of business mentors has been invaluable in setting us off in the right direction. Also, knowing we are under the spotlight from the board has placed healthy pressure on us to perform and meet the standards and expectations set. We are determined to succeed and reward the faith that has been placed in us.”

Junari believe wholeheartedly this success is due to the journey that they undertake with their customer base. Junari Asked to Deliver New Phase for Global App

A global company with offices in Suffolk has commissioned Junari to provide new features to the App they produced last year.

This upgrade will provide new features that will help consumers interact with new technology to give them greater control over the services that the company provides. The App is currently being used for demonstration purposes and to generate customer feedback, but is production ready and will likely be delivered to consumers during 2014.

The app will be delivered to iOS and Android devices and integrates with a C# back-end also provided by Junari, that then uses public API’s to integrate back into the servers of the Global company.

The project sponsor explained: -

We are looking to add value in our marketplace and the ability to keep pace with mobile apps, although commonplace, is a major differentiator for us in our market. We want to provide a extremely simple user interface that our consumers could use without any training and that hides all of the complexity that is involved with the actual transactions. Therefore we wanted to partner with a company that were UK based, with expertise in software development as well as graphic design and usability expertise to enable us to meet our goals. After some time searching, and due diligence, we felt that Junari were an excellent match for us and had the skills to meet our needs. After the success of last years development and integration, we wanted to bring new capabilities to show our prowess in the new areas.

Steve Austin, Managing Director of Junari added: -

We were very pleased to be selected last year after a lengthy procurement exercise, and very happy to be adding so much value again this year in a new field, with new interfaces and new functionality. It is excellent that small businesses such as Junari can be making a difference to a global company.

They were in the market seeking suitable solutions and contacted Junari as they had provided a previous systems solution. Junari were able to address their need using OpenERP as a basis to satisfy the exact needs of the department.

The key objectives were identified as: -

  • Centralising training records for UK staff
  • Ability to identify the best and most cost-effective training courses
  • Reducing manpower costs
  • Managing probation periods
  • Managing training budgets

The UK Office Manager explained why they chose Junari to develop their solution:

Several ‘off the shelf options’ were considered <…> but nothing we could find offered the capabilities and flexibilities we needed, and in addition were not cost effective. In the initial meeting where Junari listened and then pitched the idea for the training system, Junari were patient in gaining a good understanding of our requirements, making intelligent suggestions and were professional and competent at all times. We felt we were in good hands!”

She also explained how things have been since the go-live….

We have since met all of our business objectives. In addition to this, we have also found the speed and ease of making additions to the system unexpectedly very useful and we are sure that we will take full advantage of this going forward into the next year and the next audit! We originally did not intend to store our process documentation within the system, but found this system handled it extremely well and gave us significant additional benefits

The system is bedding in since the go-live in November 2012 and is continuing to deliver the hoped for benefits.

HP Group Achieves Greater Operational Efficiencies

Colchester based SEO company meet their business objectives through OpenERP implemented by Junari

HP Group came to us through a chance meeting at a networking event. They had a fairly complex operational problem that was very specific to their market and the way that they operate, and were in the market seeking suitable solutions. Their key objectives were

  • To achieve greater efficiency and cost reduction
  • To create a single consolidated system for managing and maintaining their processes and their customer service
  • Greater visibility and understanding of the dynamics of their business

Were the business objectives met fully?

A resounding yes! And we have subsequently identified some new company issues through the use of the system. Some of the expected benefits that we wanted need to have time to accrue – but I can already confirm that benefits have been felt already as we now have visibility of the business’s whole workload.

OpenERP helps us acheive our best quarter ever!

Junari, a Colchester based software development company specialising in Tailored Business Management Systems announces its best quarter ever!

The company has enjoyed a year of a growing customer base, an increase in repeat business as well as involvement in new partnerships. Junari’s CEO Steve Austin explained:

“During a double-dip recession it would seem that on the ground many small companies, especially in the technology sector, are doing well despite what the public believe.  Our ERP offering is experiencing an all-time high demand for us currently, we suspect that this is because in our experience small businesses are actually on the up and want to ensure that they grow efficiently and responsibly and therefore are investing in systems to enhance future scalability”

Over the last six months, Junari has more than doubled its development department, increased sales, developed new products and further enhanced its JunariCRM offering (which is based on OpenERP) with new features and integrations.

Company confidence is excellent, Junari’s CTO Russell Briggs commented:

“Working with a product such as OpenERP, we are able to take a very powerful platform and tailor it to exactly match the needs of a company, and because it is open source and licence free it makes it affordable for any sized company and therefore can provide excellent return on investment. We find that most customers start fairly simply and then as their confidence grows add more and more capability to their implementation, often integrating with or even replacing existing systems”

One of their most recent customers, Rachel Davidson-Foster of Essex based SEO company HP Group was approached for a few words, she explained:

Implementing ERP was a critical project for us and happily it is already paying tangible business benefits after only two months of live running. I’d recommend Junari to anyone who wants a powerful business planning application and who likes working with professional, highly skilled individuals”

Junari has also gained access to further expert coaching and mentoring assistance due to its acceptance onto the UK Growth Accelerator program.

Steve Austin said “with this help we expect great things by the end of our next financial year, watch this space!”

Further Development for London Based Printer

A major London based printer who has been using JunariCRM for the previous few months has commissioned further work on their system!

Having now been using a tailored implementation of JunariCRM for a few months, the printer has been so impressed that they have commissioned further work on the system. The original system was customised to capture new enquiries, estimates and orders, a process that was previously done by hand.

The Director said in August this year

The overwhelming benefit we have experienced since adopting the Junari system within our business is in understanding why we are failing to convert enquiries and in providing full traceability from a project management perspective for those enquiries.

The new work aims to further streamline their business workflows, giving great value to the company by collecting all data in one place, reducing unnecessary time spent on other systems and giving the user an improved workflow for fulfilling their business needs.
